Unveiling Remadie: Part 1- A Year of Pain

I shared the basic backstory of how Remadie came to be in the "our-story'' section on our website, titled "Innovation Born of Necessity: The Remadie Story." But developing the final version of Remadie, the "original," was a lengthy and challenging process that spanned several years. This is the first chapter in that development journey.

It all began on February 4, 2019, when my husband of 38 years, Dennis, slipped on ice and suffered severe injuries to his lumbar spine, completely tearing the gluteus minimus tendon from his left thigh and damaging 60% of the ligaments in his groin. As time went on, his condition worsened, and despite seeking medical advice, we couldn't find a solution to his pain, leaving him immobilized, in excruciating agony and he was taking twice the prescribed dose of codeine with no relief in sight.

After a year-long quest for answers, we finally discovered a surgical procedure that could alleviate the pain caused by the stenosis in his lumbar spine. We eagerly awaited an appointment with the surgeon in early March 2020, but then the escalating Covid-19 pandemic took precedence, and all non-essential medical care was put on hold due to the emergency. We realized that Dennis' much-needed surgery wouldn't happen anytime soon. By this point, he had lost all hope of finding relief from his constant, unrelenting pain. He took an overdose of his prescription pain medication which led to his admission to a Behavioral health center, and he was released on the very day the "shelter in place" order came into effect, under my care.
