Innovation born of Necessity

The Remadie Story

Necessity is indeed the mother of invention. Remadie, born out of necessity during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, emerged as a solution to a pressing dilemma. My husband faced the need for multiple surgeries due to injuries from a fall. However, at that time, nearly all local surgical centers had shut their doors to non-life-threatening emergencies. Fearing the risk of drug addiction and unpleasant side effects, we were left in a precarious situation.

Having previously explored various topical pain-relieving products, I drew inspiration from their short-term benefits and embarked on a journey of my own. My goal was to create a compound that could provide enduring comfort. It took countless iterations and feedback from friends and associates, but eventually, we had perfected the “original” formula, and Remadie was ready for its official launch.

Remadie's flower logo finds its roots in a simple childhood doodle from many decades ago.

Back then, I didn't know the origin or significance of the flower; I just enjoyed sketching it on schoolwork, scraps of paper—basically, anything that wasn't an important document.

Fast forward to my twenties, around the 1970s, when I decided to rid myself of what I considered "bad karma" associated with inherited or gifted jewelry. The decision was made to transform my beloved flower doodle into a meaningful amulet. After some searching, I located a skilled goldsmith who undertook the task of melting down the platinum and gold from these pieces and crafting a new jewelry item that faithfully resembled my cherished doodle.

This intricate work took time, particularly as I requested inscriptions for engraving on the side. To complete the ensemble, I purchased a substantial gold chain from a duty-free shop during a trip to St. Lucia.

From Amulet to Remadie: A Journey of Life Lessons and Transient Treasures

Jumping ahead about 13-14 years, my family of six, including my husband Dennis, myself, and our four children—Darleen, Fran, Rose, and Abe—were living in Wales, UK, and needed funds for plane tickets back to the US. I had learned earlier in life that jewelry could be converted into cash when needed.

Dennis and I embarked on a journey to London from Swansea, Wales, and entrusted the Amulet necklace to Sotheby's of London for auction. It was sold for the value of its precious metals, diamonds, sapphires, and amethyst—a sum that covered our airfare home.

Through this experience, I learned a valuable life lesson about the transience of material possessions. There are far more precious things than gold and gems in our limited lifetimes. Yet, a part of me still wonders about the fate of the necklace. Did the buyer keep it, wear it, sell it, or melt it down for its weight? The curiosity persists to this day.

When it came time to create a branding image for Remadie, I knew the childhood doodle had to be the centerpiece. Interestingly, once the goldsmith fashioned the amulet, I stopped doodling it altogether. The reasons for this change remain a mystery.

From Surgical Recovery to Skin Rejuvenation

How Remadie Transformed My Health and Appearance

Over the years, I've personally endured multiple surgeries on my left hand, right hand, and elbow, and have battled arthritis in my hands. Remadie has proven to be a soothing balm for these issues. Interestingly, an unexpected revelation occurred as the skin on my hands, the cuticles around my fingernails, and the dry, cracked skin on my feet became noticeably softer and smoother with regular use. Even the wrinkles on my face, a telltale sign of aging, appeared less pronounced after applying Remadie to my face and neck each morning. Most recently, I applied Remadie to a skin tag on my neck, and it is gradually disappearing.
